I’ve known Don for over twenty years as I had the opportunity to work with his wife, Tracy. As his brother stated, he had a love for music. We used to quiz each other on names of a song by giving a few lyrics or asking each other what the name was of a band or individual who was singing a particular song. One day I received a random text message and I thought it was a “weirdo” sending me some random words. I immediately erased the text message and didn’t respond. Later that day I stopped by his house to walk with Tracy and he asked me if I had received his message. I finally figured out that he was the “weirdo” and was actually sending me a name of a song and I was supposed to guess the band – I didn’t have him listed in my cell phone contacts so I hadn’t realized that the message was from him. We had a good laugh over that and then I immediately put his contact information into my phone so that I wouldn’t accidentally think he was a weirdo any longer.
Don was also a great cook and loved to make his delicious salsa using his home-grown tomatoes. He also had a knack for some very yummy stews.
He will be missed by so many and I will especially miss talking with him.
RIP Don
