February 16, 1931 – January 2, 2017
Donna was born in Langdon, North Dakota and passed away at her home in St. Helens, Oregon surrounded by loved ones. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard McLean in 2005 after 56 years of marriage, and by her brother Wallace Oberg and son-in-law James Fraser. She is survived by her daughters Karen Roldan (Thomas) and Sharon Fraser, her grandchildren Marsea DeWitt (Joshua) and Tabitha and Cole Fraser, her great grandchildren Raymand and Benjaman DeWitt, and her niece Vicki Oberg who cared for Donna at home during the last months of her life.
Donna graduated from high school in Hannah, North Dakota where she grew up with Richard. They were married in 1949 and lived in Devil’s Lake, North Dakota before moving west to Renton, Washington where they both working for Boeing. In 1961 they moved to Brookings, Oregon where Donna was a homemaker, and after her daughters grew up, worked at a drug store and a credit union. In 1983 they moved north again and built a home in Columbia City and later in St. Helens. Donna was a life member of the Order of Eastern Star, a Deacon and Elder in her church, an accomplished seamstress and knitter, loved to feed the neighborhood birds and squirrels, and enjoyed her garden. It was in her home that family and friends enjoyed her cooking, gathered for the holidays, and loved hanging out together in her cozy country kitchen. The “His and Hers” rocking chairs are now empty in this kitchen, but her family believes that Donna and Rich are once again together in heaven.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on January 7, 2017 at Plymouth Presbyterian Church, 2615 Sykes Road, St. Helens; a reception in the fellowship hall will immediately follow. Donna will be laid to rest with Richard at the Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. Memorials may be given in her honor to Plymouth Presbyterian Church.
