Obituary of Douglas "MIKE" Larson
Graveside service will be held, Saturday, July 31, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Bethany Memorial Cemetery. Celebration of Life Service will be held, Saturday, July 31, 2010 at 12 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church.
Mike passed away at his home in St. Helens, Oregon, July 24th.
He was 48 years old.
Mike was born October 12, 1961 in St. Helens, Oregon to Douglas Walter Larson and Linda Jean Herenden McManigal. He was their only child. He graduated from St. Helens High School in 1979. After high school he worked for Graphic Packaging where he was employed 27 years. In December 2007, he was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer of the esophagus and was unable to work for the remaining years of his life.
On March 27, 1982, he married Lisa Jo Lindsay Larson whom he met during their high school years. They had been married 28 years this past March. Mike was a member of Grace Baptist Church since 1998.
Mike enjoyed watching sports, playing golf, going to the beach, being outside, arrowhead hunting, metal detecting, but most of all, he loved being with his family, whom he loved dearly. He will always be remembered as a great husband, father, son, nephew, uncle, cousin and friend.
He is survived by his wife; Lisa, daughter; Amber Larson, son; Jared Larson, dad; Douglas W. Larson and step-father; Mitch McManigal. His mother Linda Jean McManigal precedes him in death.
