Violanda Marguerite (Edie) April LeRoy
Edie LeRoy died quietly on October 24, 2018 at her home in Scappoose, Oregon. She was 94 years old. Edie was born in Sandpoint, Idaho, on March 1st, 1924. Her Italian parents named her Violanda Marguerite April. For many years her classmates called her “Vi”. That was later changed to Edie. She married Bill LeRoy on October 14, 1943 and was a Navy wife until after WWII ended. Edie was known as a wonderful cook and seamstress. Those skills were much appreciated by her children Dennis (74), Bradford (66) and the late Jill Head who died at age 67. After the war the family moved to the Saint John’s district of Portland where they lived until 1975. Edie and Bill moved to Scappoose where they lived out their lives. They were married for 55 years until Bill’s death in 1997. She will be interred next to Bill at the Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. Edie is survived by her sister Betty Brown (89), her two sons, 5 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Over 100 people gathered in 2014 to celebrate her 90th birthday. She was loved by everyone who knew her and will be deeply missed. Many will return December 2, 2018 for her celebration of life. It will be at 1:00 PM at the Spring Lake Community Center in Scappoose.
