Edward C. Owen's Obituary
Edward Corcoran Owen, born March 3, 1948 in Vancouver, WA, to Edward Owen and Hedwig Fischer Owen, died on August 14, 2014 on his Sauvie Island farm from the cumulative effects of a major stroke suffered in August 2006.
He grew up in Portland, Oregon, graduating from Madison High School in 1966. In 1973, he earned his B.S. degree from Portland State University after serving two years in the U.S. Army as a military police officer during the Vietnam War conflict. After graduation he joined the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office as a patrol deputy where he served with distinction until his retirement in 2000 to be a full time farmer, outdoorsman, and rock hound.
Edward is survived by his wife of 31 years, Valerie E. Owen; his daughters, Jessica E. Owen and Tanya Owen Castilleja, and granddaughter, Jocelynn Castilleja. He died as he lived, his own way and deeply loved by all who knew him well.
A Memorial Mass will be held Monday, August 25, 2014 at 2:00 PM at St. Birgitta’s Catholic Church in Linnton.
