Edwin L. Smith's Obituary
Edwin L. "Smitty" Smith was born on May 24, 1927 in Grand Rapids, MI. to Clyde & Ethel Martin Smith.
He died at his home in Scappoose, OR. surrounded by his family, after a long illness on January 12, 2007 at the age of 79.
He attended school in Mesick, Michigan and after school he joined the Marines and served in China at the end of WWII.
Smitty worked for U-Haul Trailer Co. in Michigan and Oregon and later became a long haul trucker. He moved to Gresham in 1973 and then to Springlake Park in Scappoose in 1994.
He was an avid baseball fan, especially the Detroit Tigers & the Seattle Mariners or any team, any time. After he retired he took up woodworking as a hobby.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ellie and 4 daughters: Linda Prichard & Nancy Kinney of Burlington, MI.; Beverly Benedict of Beaverton, and Susan Fehlman of Sacramento, CA.; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Private family committal service & interment: Willamette National Cemetery-Portland, OR.
