Elbert V. Hearing's Obituary
Elbert V. Hearing was born on September 1, 1916 in Haines, OR. to Ernest & Margaret Olson Hearing.
He died at a Scappoose Care Facility on March 27, 2004 at the age of 87.
He attended schools in Haines and graduated from Baker Hi school in '34. He moved to St. Helens, OR. as a young adult.
He was in the Navy as a Chief Metalsmith during WWII. He was married to Durilda for 50 years when she preceded him in death in '92.
He was a millwright for Pope & Talbot, Crown Zellerbach, managed the St. Helens Elks Lodge for 9 1/2 years, he lost his leg in a mill accident, his last millwright was with Riester Lumber Products of Scappoose, retiring in 1981.
He was a member of the Baker City Elks Lodge and a charter member of the St. Helens Elks Lodge, card #15.
He enjoyed watching sports on TV and was a Blazer Fan.
Survived by: Son & Daughter-in-law: Steve & Denise Hearing of St. Helens, OR.; 4 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; His closest friends: Bill & Rita Craver of Scappoose, OR.; preceded in death by wife, son: Michael in 2000, daughter-in-law: Leslie in 1998.
Celebration of Life: Sunday April 4, 2004 at 2:00 PM at St. Helens Elks Lodge
Private interment: Willamette National Cemetery-Portland, OR.
