Elizabeth Betty L. Mac Ellven's Obituary
Elizabeth Betty L. MacEllven passed away on December 19, 2005, in Scappoose at age 94. She was predeceased by her husband, David E. MacEllven, whom she married on October 17, 1942 at Lake Charles, LA, near his assignment in the Army Air Corps. She is survived by her son, Douglass T. MacEllven of St. Helens, and one grandchild. She graduated from college during the Deression at the University of Buffalo where she studied biology. To her family, she passed on an interest in nature and conservation as well as a geat concern for animal welfare. In the 1950's and 1960's she was a social services volunteer who organized activities for long-term patients at the Ft. Miley Veterans Hospital in San Francisco. She received recognition when her service to disabled veterans reached 10, 000 hours, but her service continued for years after that. In 1988, she moved to St. Helens with her family after a decade-long stay in Saskatchewan, Canada. She was a friend to adult foster home residents in St. Helens for a decade and for the past two years she has received loving care at the Columbia Care Center in Scappoose. Memorial donations may be made to the Columbia Humane Society in St. Helens. Thank you, Douglass MacEllven
