Elvira Jean Mileti's Obituary
Elvira Jean Mileti
July 7, 1932 ~ April 25, 2008
ElviraLV, of Columbia City, Oregon was welcomed into heaven on April 25, 2008.
She was born in Lorain, Ohio as the youngest child of Steven and Theresa Szabo. At age 14, when her mother died, her three older sisters Mary, Helen, and Stella took part in raising her as did Gizella Gizi, her stepmother.
On November 28, 1957, she married Ardell Mileti whom she met at a square dance in Ohio. They moved to Warren, Oregon in March of 1964. In November of 2007, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Elvira served the community and her local church in a multitude of roles. These included being a Girl Scout leader, 4-H leader, Columbia County Fair participant and later as a superintendent of the Textile Department with countless hours of service throughout 20 years.
She was very active as a member of St. Frederic's Church where she was the President of the Women's Society. Her involvement also included the annual Christmas Bazaar and even feeding the homeless youth in Portland.
Her love for her friends compelled her to spreading good cheer and optimism by visiting those who needed uplifting and encouragement. Her energetic and friendly spirit would shine while serving those in need. Elvira's long-term commitment of helping the public was evident by her 23-year career at the Columbia County Courthouse Tax department. She received much joy by frequenting garage sales, church bazaars, quilting classes and going on cruises. She enjoyed sharing her Hungarian Language and culture with her family and friends.
Elvira had enormous love for her husband, children and grandchildren. Always creating gifts made with love and never failing to have a treasure for you as she kissed you good-bye.
Stoic heroism and strong faith helped her endure many illnesses. We were blessed to have such a generous and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
She is survived by her husband; Ardell Mileti of Columbia City, Oregon, daughter; Debra Baxter of Utah, son; David Mileti of St. Helens, and daughter; Diane King of Vancouver, Washington. Also her grandchildren, Aubrey, Jenise, Alyssa, Madison, and Nolan.
Donations can be made to Sisters of St. Francis, 3390 Windsor Avenue, Dubuqe, Iowa 52001.
