Ernest ‘Ernie’ W. Gayman Jr.
April 16, 1928 ~ Dec. 20, 2015
Ernest “Ernie” W. Gayman Jr. passed on December 20, 2015, at Emanuel Medical Center in Portland, Oregon. He was born April 16, 1928 to Ernest & Harriet (Mau) Gayman. Ernie grew up on a farm in Ohio.
He met Arlene Marie Cline while attending Miltonvale Wesleyan College Academy in Miltonvale, Kansas. They were married May 29, 1947, and resided in Ohio before moving to the Scappoose area in 1951 where they lived till death.
Ernie worked for the American Red Cross for 42 years. He raised four children and was active in his church. He was also a Boy Scout leader and was active in PTA and the Historical Society in Scappoose.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years. He is survived by three foster brothers, Ronnie, Rodger and Rodney, of the Ohio and Indiana area; four children, Constance, Kathleen, Brent and Grant; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life is set for Saturday December 26, at Chapman Community Church, at 11:00 AM to be followed by a Graveside service is at Fairview Cemetery in Scappoose.
