Ernest L. Thompson's Obituary
Ernest L. "Ernie" Thompson was born on April 13, 1920 in Butte, Montana. to Edward & Adeline Goodwin Thompson.
He died at an assisted living center in Longview, WA. on October 27, 2009 at the age of 89.
Ernie was educated in Spokane and life experiences. He moved to Columbia County in 1934 and has lived here since. He was married to Nadine Harris here in 1940, she preceded him in death in 2002.
He was a mechanic owning the 76 and Texaco Gas Stations and a great machinist for Cooper Napa Auto Parts Store all for a total of 14 years. He was a duputy sheriff for 20 years, retiring in 1980.
His interests included hunting, fishing, photography, ham radio operator built radios, electrical projects and casting bullets.
Survivors include: Son: Wally Thompson of St. Helens; Daughter: Darlene Luttrell of Ontario, OR.; Sister: Dorothy Halbeck of Scappoose; 5 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren.
Celebration of Life: Friday, November 6, 2009 at 1:00 PM at Columbia Funeral Home
Committal service & interment: Columbia Memorial Gardens Cemetery-Scappoose, OR.
