Esther A. Lufkin's Obituary
Esther Amelia was born on July 2, 1917 in Bend, Oregon, to Severin and Olga Matson Roth. She died at the age of 89 on August 30, 2006 in Portland.
She was just a little girl when her family moved from Bend to Portland and then to Warren. In 1935 she graduated from Scappoose High School and three years later married Victor R. Lufkin in 1938. They bought 2 acres of property in Warren where they built a home and raised their family. Victor and Esther were married for 65 years when he preceded her in death in 2004.
Esther was a homemaker, wife and mother to six children. She participated in the home extension program, and enjoyed making arts and crafts. She was a member of the Moose Lodge. She liked to bowl and spend time with the grandchildren.
Esther is survived by sons: Jim and Ted both of St. Helens, and Jack of Milwaukie, Oregon; daughters: Vicki Freeman and Debra Allshouse both of St. Helens, Oregon, and Karen Beaston of Kooskie, Idaho; brother, Oscar Roth of Warren, Oregon, and sisters, June Simpson of St. Helens, Oregon and Dorothy Perry of Portland, Oregon; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held Friday, September 1, 2006 at 1:00 PM at Columbia Funeral Home. Burial will be in Bethany Memorial Cemetery in Warren, Oregon.
