Ethel L. Huntzinger's Obituary
Ethel L. Huntzinger passed away on Mother's Day, May 13, 2018, with her family at her side. Ethel was born to William and Genevra McCallum in Wheatland, Wyoming on September 20, 1935. After graduating from Wheatland High School, Ethel became a Certified Nurse's Aide, a job she enjoyed for over 35 years.
Raised in Wheatland, Ethel relocated to Saint Helens, where she married Vernon Huntzinger on February 22, 1957. Ethel and Vernon resided in Saint Helens for most of their 50-year marriage, where they raised their family. Ethel worked for Columbia District Hospital, which later became Saint Helens Hospital, for several years before retiring in 1991.
Ethel was a member of Columbia River Baptist Church of St. Helens, and most recently resided in the Arbor unit of Avamere Assisted Living. She enjoyed reading, jigsaw puzzles, word search and crossword puzzles, card games, listening to music, and movies. Ethel was a woman of deep faith; she enjoyed reading her Bible and was known for offering wise counsel and a listening ear.
Ethel is survived by her son, David Huntzinger, of St. Helens; daughters Debra Pardue (Tom) of St. Helens and Jeannie Wright (Bill) of Conway, Arkansas; 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Vernon in 2007 and son Brian in 1979.
