Eugene "Gene" Dana Frost's Obituary
Eugene Frost entered the world in Hayden, Arizona. He was the first son of a mining engineer and a teacher. His brother, Tom, arrived soon after. Boyhood was spent in mining towns from Old Mexico to Colorado. He attended high school in El Paso where he played tennis. In college, He earned a chemical engineering degree at Rice University. He began work at a paper mill in Bogalusa, Louisiana until the summons came to enter the military.
He served in Korea as a forward observer and then field artillery unit commander. As a civilian, he resumed paper mill work and transferred first to Camas then to St. Helens. He met and married Jo, an R.N. who skied, hiked and climbed a mountain with him. Four children were born to them.
After retirement, he helped with things at church, was on the school board, read, visited kids and grandkids, and did yard work.
In August, he tangled with a rock that put him on a downward spiral. He said his goodbyes and left to meet the God he loved.
