Eugene Clarence Jackson
Eugene “Gene” was born in Alderson, Oklahoma to Andrew and Nora Jackson on February 3rd, 1922. At age 6 the family moved to Hermiston, Oregon and later to Rainier, Oregon. Gene married Helen Anderson on March 16, 1943 in Martinez, California. He served 3 years in the US Army during WWII in the Middle East and across Europe. After the war Gene and Helen settled in St. Helens and later Gene and Helen built their family home near Scappoose where they raised a family and lived for 55 years. Gene worked at Crown Zellerbach paper mill in St. Helens, as a rural postal carrier and finally for Gunderson-FMC as a welder and machinist for 20 years, retiring in 1984. Gene could build or repair just about anything. He had his own businesses as a gunsmith, and in retirement, constructing and selling hand trucks. He was a member of the St. Helens Masonic Lodge. Gene and Helen have resided in Cedar Mill the past 10 years. Gene passed away on November 26, 2013. Gene is predeceased by his daughter, Donna Kennedy. He is survived by his wife Helen, daughters, Dolores Findley (Ken) of Portland, Oregon and Candace Allison (Steve) of Hillsboro, Oregon and son-in-law, Jim Kennedy of Beaverton, Oregon, five grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at the Columbia Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Scappoose, Oregon on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at 11:00 am.
