Eugene Nathan Stowell's Obituary
Eugene Nathan Stowell died on May 2, 2006 at age 90. He was born on January 1, 1916 in Centralia, WA and grew up in the Centralia area. As a young man he worked in the logging business in both WA and OR. He married Jaunita Dexter in June of 9141 and they lived in WA until 1946. They moved with their 3 year old daughter to the St. Helens area in 1946. He began work with Fir-Tex, but soon moved into carpentry as a career. One of the first projects he worked on was the building of the Scappoose Middle School. By 1950 he was well on his way to becoming a skilled craftsman in the building trade. He worked on numerous building sites from Rainier to Portland over the next 30 years, finally retiring in 1978. He enjoyed almost 30 years of retirement in his self-built beautiful home in Scappoose. He thoroughly enjoyed helping others an dhe became well known for his ability to make wonderful wood products, and for his uncanny knack for fixing broken equipment. He made friends easily and was always busy with his home projects. He was a most generous man known for his gentleness, kindness and his talent for creativeness. He will be sorely missed by all his family and friends. He was a man of good humour and good cheer one to whom one could always feel good about knowing and be friending. Gene is survived by his wife of almost 65 years, Jaunita, his daughter, Angela Kelso and her husband, Jack, and grandchild Theresa Bamford and her husband, Doug, and great grandchild Samuel Wyatt Bamford. He is also survived by his sister Gertrude Rhodes in Onalaska, WA and all of her family.
