Florence Ann Winter's Obituary
Florence Ann Winter was born on October 23, 1927 in Norwood Park Township, Ill. to Carl G. Callahan, Sr. & Myrtle Todtleben.
She died at her home in Scappoose, OR. on December 31, 2006 at the age of 79.
She was educated in Detroit, MI at the Carnegie Institute Medical School; graduated as a registered medical assistant, she was hired by the school as an instructor. She also worked at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, MI. and for several doctors and clinics.
She married Frederic Winter, Jr. in 1951. They lived in various parts of the country moving to Oregon in 1979.
Florence served her faith as a eucharistic minister to the sick and the aged. She was actively involved as an advocate for the mentally ill; was a founder of the family support group of the county and worked on several boards as an officer in state and local organizations.
She was a homemaker, a girl scout leader, a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Scappoose, the Red Hatters, Disabled American Veterans Auxillary and very involved with PAC Purchase Acquisition Committee for the resident purchase of the Springlake Community. She was a board member, president and vice-president of the Alumni Association of the Carnegie Institute.
Her interests included her kids and family, home, cooking, flowers and knitting.
Survivors include: Husband: Fred Winter, Jr.; Children: Lydia Roskey Terry; Virginia Winter, M.D.; Patricia Stafford Bruce; Frederic Winter III; Gloria Diefenbaugh Paul; Cynthia Matter; Carl Winter; 7 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild. Preceded in death by her parents and 3 brothers.
Memorial Mass: St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Scappoose, OR. Friday, January 5, 2007 at 10:00 AM
Private interment: Willamette National Cemetery-Portland
