Florence Marion Eidem's Obituary
Florence Eidem of St. Helens, Oregon, formally of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2022.
Born Florence Marion Kjose on July 11, 1927, in rural Elk Point, South Dakota, to Olaf and Alice (Paulson) Kjose. She was baptized in the Brule Creek Lutheran Church and confirmed in the South St. Paul Lutheran Church. She graduated from Elk Point High School and went on to attend and graduate from the N.B.T. Business College in Sioux City, Iowa. She aspired to be a Court Stenographer and worked at various firms in Sioux City.
Florence married John Witt on May 20, 1950, in the South St. Paul Lutheran Church. They had two daughters, Karen (Polley) and Sandra (Harker). John passed away July 29, 1978.
She reconnected with her high school sweetheart Robert (Bob) Eidem while working at Sears and Roebuck in Sioux City. They married on October 6, 1979, and relocated to Columbia City, Oregon where they spent many loving years together. They enjoyed traveling in their motor home and wintering in California. Bob passed away on December 3, 2008.
Florence was a devout Christian. She was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Sioux City and later a member of Warren Baptist Church in Warren, Oregon.
Florence was a friend and loved by many. She loved to talk and share her many stories, sometimes more than once. She enjoyed counted cross stitch and playing cards. She prided herself in staying active and would walk many miles a day. She was 100% Norwegian and proud of it, and taught many the phrase "uff da".
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Evelyn Jane, husbands John and Robert, daughters Karen and Sandra, a granddaughter Kristin Polley, and stepson Robin Eidem.
She is survived by her grandson Tracy Harker (Crystal) and their children Hope and Brayden of Council Bluffs, Iowa; granddaughter Allison Polley (Wade) and their children Kaylee and Taylor of Sioux City Iowa; stepchildren MarySue Redfield of Lodge Grass, MT, Daniel Eidem of Homer, AK, Todd Eidem of St. Helens, OR, Byron Eidem of Kelso, WA, Dallas Eidem of Hardin, MT, Dana Bartlett of Lodge Grass, MT, and countless other friends and relatives.
Celebration of life services will be held at Warren Baptist Church on December 2 at 2 PM with a reception to follow. In lieu of any flowers, contributions may be made in her name to Warren Baptist Church.
