Florence Matson November 25, 1913 ~ August 1, 2017
Florence Matson was born to Charles and Mary Peterson on November 25, 1913 in Yankton, Oregon. Florence attended her 8 years at Yankton Grade School, played on the basketball team and won all her games. She belonged to the Four H Club and won a blue ribbon on her jersey heifer at the fair.
Florence also worked for St Helens bag factory. She married Harold J. Matson August 3, 1934 in Vancouver, Washington and they were married 63 years until her husband passed away.
She loved traveling, camping, hunting, and fishing. Florence also enjoyed baking and crocheting, working in her flower beds and small garden.
Florence was a lifetime member of Disabled Veterans Auxiliary. Her brother Wiljo Peterson, sisters Shirley Wallis, Olga Gribler, and Edna Evenson preceded her in death.
She is survived by one daughter, Karen M. Bores and son in law Edward. She is survived by her nephews Kenneth Wallis, Jimmy Peterson, Mike Peterson and Donald Erickson, nieces MaryJo Fowler, Frieda Ryland, and Patricia Horn, as well as many other relatives in Finland.
Donations can be made to Diabetes Foundation or the Cancer Fund in Florence Matson’s name.
No Funeral or Memorial will be held.
