When my family moved to St. Helens in the early 1960’s Sherlock ‘s Grocery became “our” grocery store. I remember Florence and Ray so well. Ray was always busy cutting meat and Florence was at the register ringing up our groceries, and I can’t remember a time when she didn’t have a genuine welcoming smile. Later as an adult I got to know Florence through church, especially the Women’s Society where she volunteered her time, creativity, and shared her wonderful sense of humor. She was a great role model of what it means to be a Christian woman and my life was enriched by knowing her. I pray all of you will be blessed with many sweet memories of your loving mom.

Florence touched so many hearts. My fondest memories were my 2 girls walking to Sherlock's walking to buy there little bag of penny candy. I would call Florence and tell her the girls were on their way and I watched them get there. Then she would call me and I would go out and watch them walk back. We were about 2 blocks to the store. Both Ray and Florence were always so kind and patient. She is definitely an Angel..God Bless...Linda and Brad Olsen
Mrs. Sherlock was a wonderful person to the Way family. As a little girl I spent time talking to her at the store's cashier's counter while my mother grocery shopped. The minutes she gave me have stayed with me for over six decades. I remember her each time a child wants to talk about their day and hope I can listen like Mrs. Sherlock did.
