Obituary of Francis Raymond Billings
Celebration of Life Services will be held, 2pm, Saturday, January 14th at the Christian Church of St. Helens. Francis died peacefully in his step-daughter's home, surrounded by the love of his wife and family on January 5th, 2012
He lived 94 wonderful years.
Francis was born November 8, 1917 in Foster, Oregon to Raymond Wallace and Gertrude "Mae" Crosby Billings. He attended school until the 9th grade in Brownville, Oregon which was normal in his day then he went back to work the family farm. He moved to North Plains where the family purchased acreage, when he was 19 years old in 1936. He was a dedicated son who farmed, and took care of his mother. When he was 60 years old, Francis married the love of his life, Jo Ann Hudson on December 20, 1977 in Monrovia, California. It was during this marriage that Francis learned to love travel, and travel they did. From Alaska to Hawaii, the Grand Canyon to Glacier National Park. The two of them enjoyed life together. Francis was fond of all the children in his life, and was able to share his love with nieces, nephews and later with his wife's children, grandchildren, and great grand children.
He was known by many names including; Frank, Unc, Gramps and Grandpa Francis.
Francis is survived by his wife of 34 years, Jo, step children; David & Katie Jones of Rainier, Beth & Mike Kennedy of Rainier, Harvey Jones of Portland, Amy & Jason Hewitt of North Plains, Numerous grandchildren and great- grandchildren, sister; Edra Anna "Bobbie"
Dangerfield, nieces; Ann Lutman & Frances Smithson, nephew; Michael Dangerfield. Pre-deceased by brother; LeRoy "Lucky" Billings.
Private burial will be held at Yankton Hillcrest Cemetery.
