Francis Wilbur Jones' Obituary
Francis Wilbur Jones was born on Ocotber 18, 1923 in Goble, Oregon to Loyal & Lillian Nelson Jones.
He died at a St. Helens nursing home on September 1, 2010 at the age of 86.
Francis was educated in Rainier and graduated in 1940.
He went into the Navy in WWII in December of 1942, discharging in January of 1946. While in the Navy he was stationed in the S. Pacific Marshall Islands where he drove landing craft. He married Helen M. Senn in Goble in 1947. They lived all of thier lives in the Deer Island area. She preceded him in death on February 9, 2004.
His working career consisted of logging for Oregon American logging and Clark & Wilson logging. He worked in the shipping department of Boise Paper for 20 years from 1962 until his retirement in 1982. He also help setup steam donkies and trains.
Francis was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and whittling.
Survivors include: Children: Tammy & Jamie Maygra of Deer Island; Randall Jones of St. Helens; Siblings: Eva Cook of White Salmon, WA.; Loyal Jones, Jr. of Southerlin, OR.; 4 grandchildren; Chris, Kevin, Kallie, Kraig; 3 great grandchildren.
Private family graveside service & vault interment: Jones Family Cemetery-Deer Island.
