Frank C. Kluska's Obituary
Frank C Kluska
Died June 1st 2009
Born June 26th 1947 in Burlington Iowa, the son of Frank and Virginia Wood Kluska, Frank graduated from high school in 1967 to join the U.S Marine Corps where he was trained as a radio repairman. After Frank's honorable discharge from the Marine Corps he trained as a roofer in Texas. Frank traveled extensively through out the U.S. mastering roofing techniques from all regions of the country before settling in Oregon in the early 1990's. He retired from roofing in 2007 and moved to St Helens Oregon for the purpose of completing his book examining theological place of St Paul in the formation of modern Christianity. Known famously by his friends as "Frank the Roofer", Frank was beloved and admired for both his mastery of roofing and his generous desire to help anyone in need. As well as a master roofer, Frank was well known in the area as an accomplished wood carver specializing in the technique of "bas-relief" renderings of natural objects. By many Frank was also considered a local authority on a vast number of subjects including biblical history, philosophy, world religions, architecture, aerodynamics, mechanics, plant biology, and electronics, and science fiction. In the past few years, Frank volunteered significant time to helping out local individuals and organizations in need of help with various construction and roofing projects, while at the same time working diligently to complete his book.
Frank is survived by his mother Virginia Woods Kluska of Knox, Indiana, his sisters Janeane Thomas Luby of Knox Indiana, and Sherry Alan Sansom of Dunlap Illinois, five nieces and one nephew. Franks father died in 1969.
Along with his family, Frank will be remembered by a large number of close friends in and around the Portland area.
A memorial service will be held for Frank at 2pm, Friday, June 26th at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland
