Freeman Charlie Ryder's Obituary
Freeman C. Ryder was born on April 21, 1925 in Ivanhoe, California to R.D. Crandall & Lola Mae Bullard Ryder.
He died at a Portland hospital on July 8, 2010 at the at the age of 85.
Freeman was in the Army during WWII and went on to marry Lois Juanita Handley-Settle on August 27, 1950 at Pacific Union College in California.
They have lived in Columbia County for 25 years, prior to that they lived in Vancouver, WA. for 37 years.
Freeman was baptized in the 7th Day Adventist Church and a 50 year member of the Milwaukie Elks, and the Stationary Union. He worked at from Meier & Frank as a Stationary Engineer until he retired and went on to purchase Scipio's Goble Landing that he has owned & operated for the past 25 years.
Survivors include: Wife: Lois Ryder of Rainier; Sons: Raymond Ryder of Rainier & Steven Ryder of Vancouver, WA.; Sisters: Betty Johnson of Anaheim, CA.; Neola Elliot of Anza, CA.; 3 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren.
Viewing & Visitation: 9-5 Wednesday
Funeral Service: at Columbia Funeral Home, Thursday, July 15th at 2:00 PM.
Committal service & vault interment: Columbia Memorial Gardens-Scappoose, OR.
