Frieda Burkhartsmeier's Obituary
Frieda Burkhartsmeier
October 22, 1920 – March 25, 2013
Frieda was born on October 22, 1920 in Winnepeg, Canada to August and Matilda (Buelow) Kublick. She passed away on March 25, 2013 in St. Helens, Oregon. She was 92 years old.
On June 8, 1941 she married Sylvester (Burk) Burkhartsmeier. They were married 51 years before he preceded her in death in 1992.
The couple lived in Portland until Burk’s retirement in 1977. Then they moved to Lincoln City where they were very active in the Senior Center and the Grange. Later in 1990 they moved to Scappoose to be closer to family.
Frieda kept very busy. She loved to bowl and had a few trophies to prove it! She also had a passion for handiwork. She knitted and donated hundreds of caps for premature babies and still found time to sew most of her own cloths. Everyone will remember her dancing every dance at the Senior Center.
Frieda is survived by her sons, Walter (Lesley) of Paulsbo, WA and Robert (Kathy) of Scappoose, OR; two grandchildren, Walter of Portland, OR, and Sara of Paulsbo, WA; and two great-grandchildren; Robert and Timothy. She was preceded in death by her husband, and her siblings: William, Rae, Ernie and Martha.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Columbia Funeral Home in St. Helens. Private interment will be at Willamette National Cemetery.
