Garry L. Strawn's Obituary
Garry L. Strawn was born on November 25, 1938 in Atchison, Kansas to William & Mary Dougherty Strawn.
He died on May 11, 2011 at a Longview Hospice Center at the age of 72.
Garry moved to Portland as a child, graduating from Clatskanie Hi in 1957 and living in Deer Island for the past 35 years.
He went into the Army on September 27, 1961 and was discharged on September 25, 1964. He married Linda Larson in Longview, WA. on June 19, 1965.
In 1965 he went to work for the Shell Plant in Deer Island currently known as Dyno Nobel. He retired in 2001.
In earlier years he was of the Catholic religion. He was a member of the Elks and enjoyed gardening, wood hunting, clam digging and was an avid sports fan watching superbowl, playing racquetball, basketball and volleyball.
Survivors include: Wife: Linda Strawn of Deer Island; Daughter: Jennifer Strawn of St. Helens; Son: Jereld Strawn of Deer Island, Step daughter Nancy Heater of Stayton, Sister: Sharon Schaefer of Portland; a half brother; Randy Strawn & half sister; Wendy Righous both that reside in CA.; 7 grandchildren.

Funeral Service: Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at 2:00 PM both at Columbia Funeral Home
Committal service & vault interment: Columbia Memorial Gardens Cemetery-Scappoose.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Home, Health & Hospice-Longview or to the Columbia Co. Humane Society.
