Gary Lee Ballweber's Obituary
Gary Lee Ballweber, 81, of Scappoose, Oregon, died peacefully in his sleep August 14, 2024.
Gary was born in Salem, Oregon, in 1943 to Harold and Velma Ballweber. He graduated from South Salem High School before going to trade school and becoming a Journeyman Machinist. He began his career with an apprenticeship at Salem Iron Works, and subsequently spent 30 years with Boise Cascade before retiring from the St. Helens, Oregon, paper mill in 2006.
Gary was passionate about all things mechanical, and enjoyed his life-long hobby of designing, building and flying large scale R/C aircraft. He was also particularly fond of hitting the open road on his classic touring motorcycle, which he maintained in impeccable condition. His other interests included gardening, hunting, and exploring the forests around his home looking for wildlife.
Gary is survived by his sons John Ballweber (Linda) of Kingston, WA, and Joe Ballweber (Rami) of Troutdale, OR; brothers Daryl Ballweber (Anna) of Noxon, MT, Terry Ballweber (Joanne) of Sisters, OR, Eric Ballweber (Rose) of Carthage, MO, and David Singer (Diane) of Corpus Christie, TX; and sister Lesa Jones (Marvin) of Girard, KS.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Don Ballweber and Randy Ballweber, and sister Linda Ballweber Holm.
