Obituary of Gary Duane Mitts
A memorial Service will be held 2 PM, Saturday, November 13th at the Deer Island Community Church. Gary passed away November 7th at his home surrounded by his family. He was 56 years old.
Gary was born July 16, 1954 in Trenton, Missouri to Duane Charles and Rosereah Ellis Mitts. He was the oldest of 3 children. The family moved to Klamath Falls, Oregon when he was in the 1st grade and he graduated from Klamath Union High School in 1973. When he was 23 years old he moved to the St. Helens area. He married his wife Kelly Jeannette Olson on April 27, 1979. They resided in the Deer Island, Oregon area until his death. He was a Journeyman meat cutter for several local grocery stores and a member of UFCW International • Grocery Workers United 555. He was a member of the Deer Island Community Church for the last 7 years. Gary was born again and baptized in 2001. He had a great love for his Lord and Savior. Gary was an avid outdoorsman in his younger years, enjoying hunting deer, and all types of fishing. He took pleasure in gardening as well.
Gary is survived by his wife, Kelly, children; Randy and wife Linda Mitts of St. Helens, daughter Lindsey and husband Ian Smith of Deer Island, grandchildren; Cody, Chelsea, Alydia and Tyler, father; Duane Mitts and Sister Carol Ruiz of Trenton, Missouri. His mother Rosereah and brother Doyle preceded him in death.
