Gary Gene Duncan's Obituary
Gary Gene Duncan was born to Robert and Dorothy Duncan of Portland, OR. He was the second of two sons. Gary passed away on February 16th, 2023, at the age of 82, surrounded by his loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his wife Alice; his parents; brother Rod and wife Sue; his in-laws; brothers-in-law Terry Webber and John Mares; sister-in-law Chris Mares; and grandson Alex Huckaby.
Gary served in the US Marines from 1958 to 1962. While in the Marines Gary was in Camp Pendleton, Okinawa, and Barstow,
Gary worked at a furniture manufacturer until he met his wife, Alice. They went to work at Boise Cascade Paper Mill in St Helens. Gary retired from Boise in June of 2003.
Gary was survived by his daughters Darlene Huckaby (Dan) and Wendy Etienne (friend Peter); half-sisters Yvonne Stelson (Hue) and Susie Webber; brothers-in-law Bernie Mares (Susan), Paul Mares, andSteve Mares (Barbara); sister-in-law Teresa Chapman (Bill); grandchildren Cody James Huckaby, Cody Gene Morrice (Davona), Ashley Etienne, Hanna Etienne; great-grandchildren Damien Huckaby, Daisy Huckaby, Henry Huckaby, Xander Lutgen, Willow Morrice, Lucas Lutgen; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
Gary enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing, crabbing, and clamming. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife Alice. He always had a pet his whole life, from a chicken to cats and dogs.
Gary will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Gary's service will be on Saturday April 1st, 2023, at Columbia Funeral Home in St Helens at 11:00 am.
