Gary Ellis McDonald October 5, 1938 ~ November 24, 2017
Gary passed away at home on November 24, 2017 at the age of 79 due to dementia. He was born in St. Helens, Oregon to Spud (Ira) McDonald and Florence Olson.
After graduating from Clarkston High School in 1957 he attended Yakima Junior College earning an associate’s degree. Before joining the army, he played Legion baseball in the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley. His career consisted of working in ceramics, owning a grocery store in Culver, Oregon, working as the tackle manager in Larry’s Sporting Center in Beaverton, Oregon. During this time, he taught fly-fishing and guided fishermen. Gary finished his working career as owner and operator of McDonald’s Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning Business in Scappoose retiring in 2008.
Gary is survived by his wife Mary Jane, his daughter Denise and husband Shaun Barrett of Deer Island, son David and wife Michelle, three grandsons, his sister Cheryle Orr, and aunt Tina Davis of Keizer Oregon, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
Gary is predeceased by his brother Jerry McDonald.
A Funeral Mass will be held on December 13, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Scappoose, Oregon.
