Gary Eugene Templin's Obituary
Gary Eugene Templin was born in Vanport, Oregon, on May 16, 1946. He graduated peacefully to Heaven, October 24, 2023, at his home surrounded by many family members. Gary was raised in Scappoose, Oregon, and entered the Army after graduation, eventually recruited from the Army Military Police to serve with the CIA in Germany. He was proud of his military service to include retiring the colors at Arlington National Cemetery and standing guard at JFK’s burial site. After his military service he went to work for Shell Oil for 27 years. Upon his retirement Gary’s second career was as a Realtor with his wife Roxy in Maupin, Oregon, where they lived for 17 years.
In 2014, Gary was diagnosed with cancer and fought a valiant battle for the next 9 and a half years. Gary read the bible every day for 20 plus years loving every opportunity to witness to everyone he could, particularly doctors, nurses, hospital chaplains and fellow chemo patients. Along with loving God, his family and his church, Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing and competitive benchrest shooting.
Gary was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, parents William and Betty, brother Billy, Aunt Shirley Krueger and nephew Chase Templin. Gary is survived by his wife of 34 years, Roxy; sons Todd and Corey; daughter Courtney Stone; stepsons Eric and Todd Chisholm; stepdaughters Andrea and Noelle Jones; numerous grandchildren; a great granddaughter; and spouses and partners.
Gary had a deep love for the Lord and knew he would be received into Heaven. His greeting to all was “To Blessed To Be Stressed.” We are sure God said, “Well done, my good and faithful servant” upon Gary’s arrival into Heaven.
Gary’s Celebration of Life is Saturday, December 2, 11:00 at Warren Community Fellowship in Warren, Oregon.
