Gene Allen Campbell's Obituary
Gene Allen Campbell age 73 of St. Helens, Oregon passed away on Sunday May 11, 2014 at Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland, Oregon.
Gene was born on August 10, 1940 in a farm home near Detroit, Michigan to Wilbur and Verneta {Ross} Campbell.
The family moved to the state of Washington in 1944 where he grew up and attended schools.
Gene was a father to four beautiful daughters Alberta, Tammy, Daphne, and Gena Lynn. Grandfather to Johnny Campbell.
Gene loved the ocean and spent most of his adult life working on commercial fishing boats in Alaska. He also worked at slaughter plants and was a meat cutter. He loved to hunt and fish. His passion was growing a beautiful garden and then canning the vegetables from his garden. His kitchen shelves were lined with all kinds of home canned goods. He was always busy planning for next year’s garden.
Gene shared with others in a very unselfish way. He was always giving someone something he had canned.
He was a loving brother to eight sisters and one brother.
Gene is survived by his daughters Daphne and Gena Lynn, sister Neta Gilberts of Clayton, Washington, brother and sister-in-law Hank and Eva Campbell of Kettle Falls Washington, sister Penny Peterson of St. Helens Ore., Peggy Griffin of Spokane, Washington, sister and brother-in law Mary and Bud Smith of Tensed, Idaho, sister and brother -in-law June and Steve Sprenger of Elgin, North Dakota, sister Jane Campbell of Clayton Washington, and many Nieces and Nephews and Great Nieces and Nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughters Alberta and Tammy, Father and Mother Wilbur and Verneta Campbell, sister Ruth Schmidt, sister and brother-in-law Judy and Don Casterline, brother-in-laws Leslie Peterson and Henry Koch.
Inurnment will be at Columbia Memorial Gardens
