Obituary of Max Eugene "GENE" Hedges
Graveside service will be held, 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 5th at Willamette National Cemetery. Gen passed away at his home in Scappoose December 25th. He was 78.
Born July 7, 1932 in Milwaukie, Oregon to Max Fred and Margaret Blanche Rowray Hedges. He graduated from Parkrose High School in 1950. He married Phyllis Juanita Wade, August 22, 1952. From this marriage they have five children. Gene joined the US Army in 1953 and after serving he returned to Oregon. He worked as labor for construction, NW Marine and Ironworks as a time keeper before opening "Gene's Floral Supply in Gresham in 1973. He and Phyllis owned and operated the business until 1997 when they retired. The moved to Scappoose in 2000 from Gresham. Gene loved the outdoors; he hunted fowl, deer and elk. Fished the Columbia River in his boat as well. But his true enjoyment was his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Gene is survived by his wife; Phyllis, children; Sandra Johnson of Puyallup, Washington, Gary Hedges & Cynthia Whalen both of Vancouver, Washington, Brenda Stauffer of Puyallup, Washington and Russell Hedges of Estacada, Oregon, 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
