I met Val in 1981 when my family moved to St. Helens and we started attending Plymouth Church. I sat near or next to her in the alto row for about 17 years. Thank heavens for me, as she had such a lovely singing voice and she helped me to be a better singer. In the midst of singing though, we always had time to "horse around" a bit and have fun. She grew up maybe a couple miles from where I grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. We didn't know each other then, but I understood the ways of the good, strong Milwaukee women and we got along very well. She will be missed.
