Gennaro Albert Scotto's Obituary
Gennaro A. Scotto was born on October 9, 1922 in Brooklyn, NY to Salvatore & Maria Porta Scotto.
He died at his daughters home in Portland, OR. on February 3, 2005 at the age of 82.
He married Margaret on May 5, 1946 in St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Hawthorne, N. Jersey. She preceded him in death on January 27, 2001.
He was a WWII Navy veteran, worked in the Brooklyn Naval Shipyards for 3 years.
He moved to St. Helens from Brooklyn, NY in 1956.
He was a mail handler for the US Postal Service for 38 years, retiring in 1984.
Member of St. Frederic Catholic Church, St. Vincent DePaul Society; he enjoyed his children and grandchildren. Loved living on the farm and raising livestock. Falling, skidding timber, cutting firewood, being active in the outofdoors camping with his children. He enjoyed the western theme and movies. In his youth he delivered fruit by horse cart in Brooklyn, NY. He yarded timber with work horses after moving to Trenthome, near St. Helens. His favorite horse was an Appaloosa. He enjoyed going to the beach and camping at the ocean. He was very proud that all of his kids attended St. Frederics Catholic grade school and all are college graduates.
His favorite themes were ''every life is sacred'' and ''one more river to cross''.
Survivors include: Children: Frank of Portland; Michael of El Paso, TX.; Thomas of Grandview, WA.; John of Yelm,. WA.; Steven of Hermiston, OR; Theresa of Portland, OR.; Gina of Orting, WA.; Marie Watters of Vancouver, WA.; Kathy Griffin of Tigard, OR.; 27 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren.

Recitation of the Rosary: 7PM at Columbia Funeral Home
Mass of Christian Burial: Tuesday, February 8, 2005 at 11:00 AM at St. Frederic Catholic Church
Committal service & interment: Columbia Memorial Gardens Cemetery-Scappoose, OR.
