Gilbert W. Wilkes' Obituary
Gilbert W. Gil Wilkes was born on March 20, 1945 in Portland, Oregon to Gilbert & Della Beyers Wilkes.
He died at his home in Scappoose on February 7, 2006 at the age of 60.
He was a 1963 graduate of Enterprise, Oregon Hi School and a 1972 U. of O. graduate.
He was in the Army from 1967 to 1969. He was a postal clerk for the U.S. Postal Service for 35 years.
He lived in Portland prior to moving to Scappoose 7 years ago.
He was raised in the 1st Baptist Church in Enterprise. Worked in the Forest Service during the summers of Hi School. Member of the American Postal Workers Union AFCIO, A.B.A.T.E. a brotherhood against totalitarian enactments.
He enjoyed his Harley Davidson motorcycle, an avid reader, enjoyed his family-children & grandchildren.
Survivors include: Mother: Della Wilkes of Scappoose; Children: Jason Wilkes of Scappoose; Karla & Tom Morris of Boise, Idaho; Sister: Judy & Stephen Hixson of N. Bend, OR.; 2 grandchildren: Angela & Christopher Henson.
Funeral Service: Saturday, February 11, 2006 at 2:00 PM at Columbia Funeral Home
Interment: Fairview Cemetery-Scappoose, Oregon.
