Glen Albert Legler's Obituary
Glen Albert Legler was born August 9, 1925 in Marysville, Idaho to Albert H. and Alta J. (Riggs) Legler. He died in Scappoose, Oregon on December 28, 2013. He was 88 years old.
In 1943 he joined the United States Navy; served in WWII; and was honorably discharged in 1946 as a Seaman First Class. On January 1st, 1947 he married Dea Butler in Las Vegas, Nevada.
He attended Idaho State College and became an Electrician employed at IBEW for 23 years. In 1964 the family moved to Eugene, Oregon; and have lived in Scappoose since August of 2013.
Glen was a great story teller and accomplished many things over the years. He was an Eagle Scout, Scout master, Teacher at Oregon State and Lane Community College. He was in two movies, wrote poetry, and played the harmonica.
Glen is survived by his loving wife, Dea of Scappoose; children: Pat (Tim) Simpson of Portland; Kaare(Janie) Legler of Deer Island; Larry (Dori) Legler of Gresham; Karel (Alan) Bland of St. Helens; Devona (Wes) Legler of Hawaii; one sister, Neola Martinez of Young, Idaho; 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren; as well as a special nephew Rod (Judy) Butler of Eugene.
He will be greatly missed; but we know he is in a better place now. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
A Military Honors Graveside Service will be held Friday, January 3, 2014 at 11:00am at Columbia Memorial Gardens in Scappoose, Oregon.
