Glenn Eugene Shipman's Obituary
A Funeral Service will be held, 1:00 PM, Friday, July 9th at Warren Community Fellowship. Glenn passed away July 3rd at his home in Scappoose.
Glenn was born July 4th, 1929 at Chiloquin, Oregon in a logging camp to Glenn Edward and Lucille Caroline Sogn Shipman. He was the eldest of 5 children. He attended school in Portland and graduated from Benson Polytechnic in 1949. He served in the US Army from 1948 thru 1956. During this time he started working for Consolidated Freightways in Portland as a truck driver and retired after 35 years on October 31, 1988. He was also a member of the Teamsters Local #81.
Glenn married Kathryn Elaine Watson, September 3rd 1955 in Stevenson, Washington and they have been part of this community since 1967 when they moved from Portland.
He loved the outdoors; a fisherman and hunter, he spent many days at the Columbia and Clackamas rivers fishing for trout and Steelhead. The Walala Mountains of Eastern Oregon were one of his favorite hunting areas. He once constructed a black powder pistol and loved to target shoot.
Glenn is survived by his wife; Elaine of Scappoose, children Kathy Broyles of St. Helens, Lynda Molzan of Lake Wood, Washington and Caroline Valleur-Giancone of Gresham, OR, four grandchildren; Deanna VanLaer-Zilke, John Valleur, Michael Meaney and Jennifer Valleur, great grandson; Tristen Valleur, sisters; Virginia Holmgren of Milwaukie, OR and Patricia Gore of Round Rock, Texas.
