Gordon Dean Flinders' Obituary
Gordon Dean Flinders was born April 14, 1946, in Joliet, Illinois. He graduated from Harry Ellis High School in 1964 in Richmond, California. A civil service retiree from the Mare Island Shipyard Gordon worked for 34 years building and overhauling nuclear submarines. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting with friends, playing golf and baseball. On October 7, 2025, at the age of 79, Gordon took his last breath at Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland, Oregon.
Gordon is survived by his wife Bonnie of 25 years and preceded in death by his wife Donna of 30 years in 1996. Survived by his children Cami Flinders Cornfoot and Mitch (Emily) Flinders. Stepchildren James (Victoria) Van Sickel, Shelley McColley, Joe (Ginger) Grundy and Scott (Jena) Grundy. Grandchildren Danna Cornfoot, Duncan Cornfoot, Baylie Cornfoot, Rhyanne (Alex Sr) Aguirre, Madison Flinders, Matthew Flinders, Jade (Tyler) Nichols, Enrique Van Sickel, Chynna McColley, Hailey (Sam) Iverson, JJ Grundy, Hanah (Nick) Laszlo, Brianna Tubbs and Jacob Tubbs, Mason Grundy. Great grandchildren Alex Jr. Aguirre, Lily Fay Aguirre, Anna Aguirre, Emery Iverson, Huxley Iverson, Dani Elmore, and Mira Laszlo.
Celebration of life to be held at Grace Baptist Church, Warren, Oregon, 1 pm November 22, 2025 with refreshments to follow. In the spring of 2026 Gordon will be taken to Sunset Hills Cemetery (Garden) in Corning, California where his remains will be placed in the Flinders plot.
