Gregory Marvin Nelson's Obituary
Born July 31st, 1949 to Marvin and Emma (Leonard) Nelson at the hospital in downtown St. Helens. He was raised in Deer Island OR, where he attended the Deer Island School. He graduated from St. Helens High School in 1967.
He worked at the Kaiser Gypsum plant and then from there he helped his parents open the Columbia Electric Feed and Seed. In 1982 he married Toni Schmit and settled in Warren where they raised two sons.
After 15 years helping run the feed store and with the passing of his father in 1984,
the feed store was sold and Greg became a casual longshoreman in 1988 and was registered in 1994 in Portland until his retirement in 2013.
Greg's love for horses followed him throughout his life, having owned a horse since
he was 8 years old. He especially enjoyed calf and team roping.
He is survived by his wife Toni of 42 years, his two sons Colin and Jay, and his
grandson Cooper.
