Harold A. Wickman's Obituary
Funeral Services will be held for Harold Wickman, 11AM, Tuesday, November 15th at Bethany Lutheran Church. Harold passed away, November 6, 2011 in Portland, He was 98 years old.
Harold Alfred Wickman was born January 5, 1913 in Astoria, Oregon to Fred and Anna Johanson the 3rd youngest of four children. He moved with the family to the Warren area as a young man, graduating from St. Helens High School in the class of 1931. He married Edna Victoria Peterson December 24, 1953; Edna preceded Harold in death September 21, 1989 at the age of 83 years. They we happily married for over 36 years, living on South Bachelor Flats Road.
Harold was a friend to many, a farmer, carpenter, and developer/builder. He built a residential area. The city named a street after him "Wickman Way". He was active member and a quiet philanthropist for Bethany Lutheran Church where he worshiped his entire life.
It was here that he was baptized in 1913, confirmed in 1942, married and had his wife's funeral service.
Harold is survived by his nephews and their spouses; Bart and Jan Johnson of Mercer Island, Washington, Dan and Margie Johnson of Zillah, Washington, niece Claudia Wickman of Sequim, Washington and numerous grandnieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his siblings; Linnea Johnson, Seva Hill and Cecil Wickman.
The family would like to thank the members of Bethany Lutheran Church, the staff at Rose Valley Assisted Living and St. Vincent Medical Center and numerous neighbors and friends who have been there for him all these many years and the last few weeks.
