Hazel Marie Runyan's Obituary
Hazel Flynn Evans Runyan: Loving wife, mom and Grammy passed in the arms of her Lord and Savior on November 5, 2018.
Born in Tioga, North Dakota on December 1, 1925 to Jim and Bessie Flynn. She was the fourth child of their eight children.
She was proud to be the valedictorian of her high school class in Pine River Minnesota. After graduation, during World War II, she moved to Bremerton, Washington to work in the offices of the naval ship yard. There she met a sailor, Ed Evans, from Dayton, Ohio. On November 27, 1945 they married in Dayton, Ohio. There were married 55 years.
They moved to Scappoose, Oregon in the summer of 1947. They were wonderful parents to their three children: Sharon (John) King, Steve (Sally) Evans, and Sue (Don) Downing. They have 13 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter and one more on the way.
After Ed’s passing in 1999, she later married Flavel Runyan on December 17, 2002. She was proceeded in death by both husbands, parents and six of her siblings and one son-in-law. She was devoted to serving her God and involved at Grace Baptist Church for 65 years. She started singing as a child. She was a soloist and choir member. She continued singing until her last days. She will always be remembered for singing “O’ Holy Night” every Christmas. She worked as an Escrow Officer for Title and Trust and Ticor Title Company for 28 years.
Her greatest legacy is, she was a faithful prayer warrior.
