Helen - Carlson's Obituary
Helen Carlson was born July 18, 1911 in Hicksville, Ohio to Worth and Laura Cramer Click. She died on July 31, 2006 in Longview, Washington. She had just celebrated her 95th birthday.
When Helen was a young girl, her family moved from Ohio to Nebraska. She attended school in Omaha.
Helen was always a hard worker beginning as a waitress in her mom?s restaurant, and then in Chicago before moving to Oregon in 1935. She worked in the Linnton Box Factory, and the Hunt Pickle Factory before it became Steinfeld?s and finally retired from the Jantzen Knitting Mills in Portland after 22 years of being a Quality Control Inspector.
In 1953 Helen married Ted Carlson. They had good but brief time together since Ted died only 10 years later.
Helen survived Typhoid Fever and had some interesting experiences over the years like meeting Charles Linburgh and Al Capone during her waitressing days back in the midwest. She and her sister once traveled 12, 000 miles visiting different cities across the country. Helen enjoyed sewing and embroidery work, gardening and had a special love for her cats. In her later years she mostly looked forward to visits from special friends and neighbors to her Warren home.
Helen was preceded in death by sisters Velma Lawton and Louella Ferguson; brother Adrian Click; and ?Uncle Dan?. Survivors include very special friends and neighbors; Glenda Dews, Tim Lundberg and A.C. Brooks and nephew, Adrian Click and 2 nieces, Glenda and Tanna Click.
Funeral Services will be at Columbia Funeral Home on Monday, August 7 at 1:00 pm. Visitation will be Saturday, August 5 from 9 till noon and before the service on Monday. Vault interment at Bethany Memorial Cemetery in Warren.
