Helen L. Sandstrom's Obituary
Helen L. Sandstrom was born on December 27, 1916 in Deer Island, Oregon to John & Harriett Baker Loyd.
She died at a Portland hospital on June 9, 2008 at the age of 91.
Helen graduated from Rainier High School in 1934. She married Herbert Sandstrom on February 1, 1939 in Chehalis, WA. He preceded her in death on January 10, 2008.
They lived in Deer Island after they married for a time until moving to Columbia City, OR. where they lived for 63 years and in Warren for the past 3 years.
She was a member of the Deer Island Womens Club where she enjoyed quilting, the Columbia City Community Club, the Eastern Star and St. Helens Senior Center.
She was a homemaker and her interests included pinocle, dancing, traveling, golfing, fishing, toll painting and plastic easter egg painting.
Survivors include: Sons: Don Sandstrom Marilyn; Ret. Col. Kenneth Sandstrom both of Warren, OR.; Brother: Walter Loyd of Deer Island; Niece & Nephew: Liz & Von Smith; 4 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren.
Celebration of Life: Thursday, June 19, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Columbia Funeral Home
Private interment: Masonic Cemetery-St. Helens
