Helen Marjorie Parmley's Obituary
Helen Marjorie Parmley of St.Helens, Oregon passed away on June 15, 2012. She was 89 years and 360 days.
Mrs. Parmley was born Helen Marjorie Ober on June 20, 1922 in Nehalem, Oregon to Harold and Helen Ober.
She attended Nehalem Grade and High Schools and graduated in 1940. She worked at the Nehalem Telephone and Telegraph as an operator and part time in the Nehalem Grade School Principal's Office as a secretary.
On July 19, 1941, she married Cecil Parmley in Nehalem, Oregon. They spent their life together in Oregon, living in Tillamook, Nehalem, Banks, and since 1957 they resided in St.Helens.
Mrs.Parmley worked for 20 years at the Columbia District Hospital as a CNA. She gave many newborns their first bath. For many years , Marjorie owned and operated a flower business, "Hobby Flowers" out of her home. She raised Orchids in her small greenhouse and loved gardening and nurturing many varieties of flowers, her favorites being Roses and Orchids. We will forever see her smile and hear her never ending words of encouragement in each flower we see. Feeding and observing her 17 fish in her backyard pond gave her endless joy. She also served many years on the Election Board in St.Helens.
She is survived by her three sons and their wives: Larry and his wife Judy Lungberg Parmley of Dundee, Oreg., David and his wife Judy Japs Parmley of Scappoose, Oreg., and Tim and his wife Yvonne Wright Parmley of St.Helens, Oreg. Also surviving are four Granddaughters: Tammera Richards and husband Stefan of Scappoose, Melissa Mercier of Edmonds, Washington, Christina Parmley of Beaverton, and Sara Navarrete and husband Angel of Beaverton. Great grandchildren include grandsons: Jonathan Trebor, Austin Mercier, Malik Navarrete, Devrin Navarrete, Nicholson Richards, Jack Richards and granddaughters: Katelyn Mercier and Ashlyn Mercier. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews and dear friends.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Harold and Sherman, sister Carol and her husband, Cecil.
Mrs. Parmley was a member of the Warren Baptist Church where she sang in the choir for many years and kept everyone in beautiful "Marjorie Bouquets".
Viewing will be at Columbia Funeral Home on Friday, June 22, 2012 from 9:00-5:00. A private family interment will be at Columbia Memorial Gardens. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Warren Baptist Church on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 11:00am. A reception will follow.
