Hilda Esther Horn's Obituary
A graveside Service will be held at Willamette National Cemetery for Hilda, 2:30, Friday, June 24th, 2011. Hilda passed away at her home on June 19th at the age of 85.
Hilda was born March 26, 1926 in Chichagof Island, Alaska to Arvid Issak and Taimi Sophia Santanen Johnson, a twin last born of eight children. She was raised in Walla Walla, Washington from the age of 4 ½ at the Odd Fellow's Orphanage Home. She was a member of the Central Christian Church in Walla Walla. She married Loren E. Horn, October 22, 1947 in Fairbanks, Alaska. From this union she had two children. She worked for the US Weather Bureau in the 1960's providing weather statistics in Ft. Yukon and Skwentna, Alaska. She was well known for her baking and always helping feed pilots weathered-in or flying search and rescue. Her husband worked for Alaska Railroad, transferred to the CAA before it became the FAA in 1952. Hilda moved to the Warren area in 1976 from Alaska with her husband.
Hilda is survived by her daughter; Linda Hense, Wayne of Dexter, OR, grandchildren; Charles Welsh Iana of St. Helens, Heather Roe Randy of Eugene, OR and Kari Stinson Adam of Springfield, OR, Four Great Grandsons and 1 Great Granddaughter, Sister; Ruth A. Allen of Spokane, WA, 6 nephews and 5 nieces.
Preceded by her husband in 1993, son, Charles in 2004, twin infant brothers, brother; Arvid and her twin brother Victor, sisters; Violet T. Reely, Ruby Erickson, twin grandchildren; Loren Gene and Terri Lynn, and grandson, Casey Gene Horn.
Remembrances can be made in her name to the Oregon Chapters of the American Cancer and Heart Associations.
