Ira - McDonald's Obituary
Ira "Spud" McDonald passed away on August 4, 2007 at the age of 87 while being cared for in the Avamere Assisted Living Center in St. Helens, Oregon.
Ira was born on Jan. 26, 1920 in St. Helens to James and Charlotte Anderson McDonald. He was one of 11 children.
Spud served in World War II as a Navy Decoder, and worked as alaborer;retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Boilermakers Union, and was active in the Elks, Moose, and Eagles Lodges.
Retirement allowed time for pinochle, cribbage, hunting, fishing, gardening, and helping everyone who needed it. He enjoyed a good joke and loved to laugh. His passion was spending time at his Ocean Park Beach house.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 33 years, Florence Evelyne McDonald and his great-grandson John Holmason. He is survived by his current wife of 35 years, Florence Evelyn McDonald; a sister, Ruth Davis; sons, Gary McDonald, Jerry McDonald, James McDonald, and Jerry Vandolah; daughters, Cheryle Orr, Tammy Schultz and Jeanette Mattson; sixteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
A graveside service is scheduled for 3:00pm on Saturday, August 11, at the Bayview Cemetery in St. Helens, Oregon.
