Irene Fay Bruington Lugar
A beautiful event happened on September 26, 2009, Irene Fay Lugar was joined with her Lord. Irene was born on September 23, 1924 in Wichita, Kansas to Paul and Fern Bruington.
She married Martin J. Lugar on August 14, 1943 in a small chapel in Lemon Grove, California. The moved to Oregon and became longtime residents of Scappoose, where she became a member of the Elks "Emblem Club" and was an avid oil painter. She loved to knit, crochet, and play pinochle.
Irene is survived by her children; daughters: Carol Murphy of King City, Oregon and Rhonda husband Claude Fleenor of Enterprise, Oregon, sons: Jay wife Judy Lugar of Warren, Oregon, Ron Lugar of Eagle Creek, Oregon, and Kelly Lugar of Medford, Oregon. 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren also survive her.
She was preceded in death by her husband Martin, 2 sisters, and 1 brother.
A funeral service will be held at Columbia Funeral Home in St. Helens, Oregon on Monday, October 5, 2009 at 10:00 am. Committal service and interment will be held at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon.
