J. Kendall Burkhead's Obituary
J. Kendall Burkhead was born on July 6, 1906 in Clatskanie, OR. to James & Nellie Lovell Burkhead.
He died on October 11, 2006 in a St. Helens Adult foster care home at the age of 100.
He attended and graduated from St. Helens Hi School and Western Oregon University.
He married Beryl Messinger on June 6, 1930 in The Dalles, OR., she preceded him in death on November 27, 2002.
He worked for the US Postal Service for 30 years, retiring as St. Helens Postmaster in 1968.
He was a lifelong resident of St. Helens.
He was a member of the St. Helens United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners.
Survivors include: Children: Kendall L. Burkhead Geri of West Linn, OR.; Carolyn B. Phillips of St. Helens, OR.; J. Dean Burkhead Janice of Portland; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 3 nephews.
Funeral Service: Monday, October 16, 2006 at 2:00 PM at Columbia Funeral Home
Committal service & interment: Bayview Cemetery-Warren, Oregon.
