April 17, 1934 ~ August 7, 2017
Jack Brissett of St. Helens, Oregon passed away on August 7, 2017. He was 83. Jack was born in Scappoose, Oregon on April 17, 1934 to Benjamin and Verla (Brundage) Brissett. He grew up and attended school in the Scappoose until the family relocated to the Tri-Cities. At age 14, Jack left home and began working on a dairy on Sauvie Island. He was given the job on the condition that he would complete the 8th grade at Sauvie Island School, which he did. When his family returned to Scappoose, he returned home and worked at the Rose Gardens on the Dikeland.
On September 18, 1954 Jack married his love Twila Dougherty in Stevenson, Washington. Together they built four beautiful homes in the Warren/Scappoose/St. Helens area, most with the help of his great friend and father-in-law, Willie. They were married for 52 years until her passing in 2007. Before Twila’s death they enjoyed spending times with their kids and grandkids, traveling with their friends and snow birding to Arizona.
Jack worked at Flintkote Roofing Products in his early years before starting work with Housing Authority of Portland (HAP) as a Maintenance Mechanic. Jack worked with HAP for 25 years before he retired. In his free time, he enjoyed mowing his grass, working in his yard, drinking coffee and washing his cars.
He is survived by his daughters Tracey (Scott) White and Teri (Peter) Thalhofer; his grandchildren Erica White, Scott Jackson (Kassy) White, Lauren Thalhofer and Sam Thalhofer; great-grandchildren Mackenzie White, Dolly White and Evelyn Grace White; his sister Sandra Stepp (Harold) and a brother in law Gaynell Dougherty(Laura); as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
